Hello families!
I wanted to make you aware of the upcoming testing, fish release/dissection, and happenings within the next month.
Students will be taking 3 MAP tests (reading, math, and language) as well as 4 SBAC tests (a math and reading Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) and a reading and math computer essay tests) over the next 6 weeks. Our class will begin on April 22, but several students who work in a small-group setting will begin the MAP testing on Monday or Tuesday of this upcoming week.
Please encourage your student to do their best! It helps to start the day after a good-night's sleep and a good breakfast.
Mr. Lamansky (our fish biologist) was in this week. He will be returning on April 22nd to dissect fish with us in class. Students will be working in pairs on this project, but if they truly do not want to participate, it is not mandatory. They can just observe, or go into a different classroom if needed.
After school that day, we will be releasing the trout we have been raising into McDevitt Pond (at the corner of Eagle Rd. and McMillan Rd.). We will do this around 4:15-25ish...as soon as I can get the fish out of the tank and drive there! That is a "Fishing Trailer" day at the pond. The Fish and Game Department will be there with rods/bait for anyone to use until 8pm as well! Families are welcome to come and help release our trout as well as spend time outdoors fishing. Hope everyone will be able to make it!
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Spenner
